DocuLegis Featured in Mastra Customer Story

We're proud to announce that Mastra has published a customer story about DocuLegis — the AI-powered legal workstation developed by Lëtzebuerg.ai for European law firms and legal departments.

Why We Rebuilt on Mastra

Before adopting Mastra, our team built custom agents with direct model API calls and experimented with several frameworks. That approach created real engineering challenges: unreliable tool invocation, overloaded or lost memory, difficulty switching models, and citation pipelines that couldn't support the traceability legal professionals require.

We decided to start from zero. In about three months, we rebuilt DocuLegis on Mastra and not only matched our previous capabilities — we improved them.

"We completely abandoned the previous product and started from zero again with Mastra. We managed to recreate previous capabilities and even make them better in about 3 months." — Manoj Elvitigala, Head Developer

What the Case Study Covers

The Mastra story walks through how DocuLegis uses workflows and multiple agents for contract analysis, risk assessment, regulatory search, and drafting. Key highlights include:

  • Self-hosted infrastructure — Mastra and Mastra Studio run in a private-cloud environment on LuxProvide's AI infrastructure in Luxembourg, with no customer data sent to external models or tool services
  • Agentic RAG — regulatory search and knowledge management built on Mastra's RAG environment with memory, drawing on a database of roughly 40,000 documents from the European Publication Office
  • Citation validation — a separate validator checks citations against answers and removes any that don't hold up before output reaches the user
  • Observability — Mastra's eval framework paired with Langfuse for tracing, giving the team visibility into what agents are doing behind the scenes

Built for European Legal Teams

For European customers, data residency and traceability aren't optional — they're essential. DocuLegis was designed from the start to give legal professionals answers they can verify, with exact document, paragraph, or sentence references supporting every response.

As Marco Mišolić, co-founder of DocuLegis, puts it: "It's very important that users feel their data is being processed somewhere safe and controlled."
